HIGH QUALITY The 3K carbon weave used on all Revo Carbon Series products whilst looking great also gives exceptional strength when combined with the manufacturing process, ensuring a high-quality long life part for your vehicle.   DYNO TESTING Dyno testing with Stage 1 software proved a 21WHP gain @4300rpm and over 11WHP at peak RPM with a consistent and strong gain through the rev range. Torque is also dramatically increased with 28NM gain over stock at peak. Increased airflow also means that the turbo can spool up quicker, delivering power and torque earlier in the rev-range.     AUDI RS3 BRAKE DISC UPGRADE The Audi RS3 comes with a fairly substantial 8-pot brake setup straight from the factory. Whilst the stock calliper works very well the same can’t be said for the discs or the factory specification pads that seem to perform best at lower temperatures or very light road use. The factory 370mm 'wavy' discs certainly look the part but the design flaw is that both discs are identical; when fitted, the cooling vanes in the right-hand disc face the wrong direction and do not offer any cooling benefit. The excessive heat this generates combined with the factory pad compound causes big issues with braking efficiency and longevity of the disc and pads. The Revo disc upgrade is designed to directly replace the stock discs and comes complete and ready to fit with left and right-handed, directional 380mm two-piece floating discs. Saving 1.2 Kg each side the disc not only weighs less than the OEM part but also features much larger, more efficient cooling veins individually designed for each side of the vehicle to ensure even braking performance, pad wear and cooling capability. This is a premium upgrade that should have come from the factory. As the Revo discs dissipate heat much more efficiently the factory pad compound works much better in real-world conditions, only when you’re using the vehicle on the track would we recommend considering a different pad altogether. Managing this heat efficiently is extremely important to avoid it transferring to the pads, calliper and fluid. The OEM RS3 discs are manufactured as a single part, pumping air in different directions on each side of the vehicle. This causes varying levels of cooling efficiency and temperatures leading to judder and brake fade. REVO DISCS Revo discs are manufactured by Alcon and utilise over thirty years of motorsport expertise in their design and manufacture. Internal vanes are used to draw air through the centre of the disc outward, allowing the heat to transfer as it passes. The rotation of the discs and vanes play an important role in brake cooling as it acts as a pump to move air and unlike the OEM brake discs, the Revo upgrade consists of a right and left-hand disc to optimise cooling and ensure consistent stopping power for your vehicle.   TWO-PIECE FLOATING DESIGN Utilising a two-piece floating design allows the disc and hat to expand radially and axially as they absorb heat generated from use, avoiding the most common cause of warping and cracking seen in single-piece rotors. Due to the efficiency of this design, Revo discs last considerably longer than factory discs.     REVO INTERCOOLER AUDI RS3 8V2 The Revo Intercooler utilises unique design features to lower intake air temperatures, minimise pressure drop and allow the engine to produce impressive power and torque with Revo Software. The unique end tank profile promotes internal laminar flow by decreasing turbulence and increasing airspeed into the bar and plate core. This enhances charge air cooling giving you access to more power throughout the rev range. The limitations of the stock intercooler were apparent throughout testing. The stock part consistently struggled to manage charge air temperatures, especially on vehicles with performance software. The Revo Intercooler has been designed to improve on every restrictive element of the stock cooler, enhancing cooling efficiency by lowering intake air temperatures by up to 38ºC vs. the Stock intercooler, allowing you to drive harder, for longer. Designed from the ground up, the Revo Intercooler has a 38% larger core volume than the OEM part and offers perfect fitment by Utilising the volume of unused engine bay space behind the OEM (US and ROW) crash bar. INCREASED FRONTAL AREA Due to the custom-designed end tanks, the frontal area of the intercooler has been increased by a massive 53%. Offering the best balance between increased performance and acceptable part clearance, whilst also minimising pressure drop.   END TANK DESIGN The Revo end tank geometry maintains the largest possible cross-sectional flow area to and from the core. With a cast interior surface finish, the Revo end tanks allow air to flow freely without obstructions. The design has been balanced between core width and optimal tank profile design. End tanks play an important part in maintaining pressure and work in harmony with the core to promote airflow, the Revo end tanks are designed to offer the optimal balance between both of these key features.   BAR & PLATE Designed with a bar and plate core to maximise the efficiency of heat transfer, the pressure drop is also controlled as the air meets less resistance compared to that of a tube and fin alternative. The Revo Intercooler also features carefully specified fin geometry to maximise cooling properties while minimising flow restriction. The ambient core side utilises louvred fins to slow ambient airflow which improves heat transfer, while the charge core side features an offset internal fin design to balance surface area and air resistance to minimise pressure drop.   INTERCOOLER PIPE UPGRADE Supplied with an upgraded aluminium charge and silicone throttle pipes. The increased diameter pipework ensures the maximum performance by increasing system volume by over 27%. The internal diameter of each silicone is precisely matched to the outer diameter of the ribbed inlet and outlet connections along with a unique Flush Fit design, allowing a smooth transition between components. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT All Revo products are designed in-house using the latest 3D printing technology, CAD and CFD software. Every product is rigorously tested utilising an in-house Hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo intercooler minimises turbulence while maximising heat transfer, promoting cooler air temperatures and low-pressure drop. This helps retains power and torque throughout the rev range as highlighted during controlled Dyno testing. The Revo Intercooler was tested in-house to compare the performance against that of the stock Intercooler. First tested on a vehicle running the OEM Intercooler with Revo software, a Revo carbon series air intake system and Milltek downpipe exhaust, the Revo Intercooler and pipes were then installed and tested in the same controlled environment to highlight the benefits of enhanced cooling. PERFORMANCE DATA Showing the last of four consecutive dyno runs, the efficiency of the Revo Intercooler over the OEM RS3 intercooler is highlighted. With peak gains of +17 HP (hubs) & +43NM Torque, along with increased performance throughout the entire rev range. The stock intercooler struggles to effectively function in comparison to the Revo Intercooler which remained consistent throughout. INLET TEMPERATURE This is a metric used to confirm that testing on the RS3 8v.2 2.5TFSI Intercooler. This is used to show that the air temperatures going into the intercooler were similar for each test, confirming that outlet temperatures shown in the following graphs are purely down to differences in intercooler design/construction. As can be seen, the “dwell” between testing runs is higher with the OE setup vs. Revo. While this initially seems less than desirable for comparable data, this temperature difference is actually down to the thermal mass differences between setups; indicating that the Revo kit can absorb much larger amounts of heat more efficiently than the OE setup, yet the Revo intercooler produced the lower outlet temps proving the cooling efficiency. OUTLET TEMPERATURE This is the main performance metric to illustrate that the Revo intercooler far exceeds the stock unit. A strong indication that the Revo intercooler is extremely resistant to heat soak and could likely continue for ten more sequential dyno runs before any intake temperature-related issues arose. The graph illustrates the increased cooling performance of the Revo intercooler vs RS3 intercooler over all four runs. The Revo Intercooler provided a massive 38.2°C max and 18.23°C average intake air temperature reduction across the six back to back full gear dyno runs. INTERCOOLER PRESSURE DROP GRAPH Pressure drop is an important factor when it comes to choosing an Intercooler. The Revo solution features custom cast end tanks to evenly distribute air over the core. SILICONE HOSE The Revo silicone hose is designed to directly replace the plastic hose and rubber corrugated parts. Increased inlet diameter of 21% reduces restriction and promotes smooth airflow while an integrated wire helix reinforces the hose and prevents collapsing under negative pressure.   MACHINED INLET The machined inlet replaces the restrictive OEM plastic elbow and is designed to securely fit the OE unit using locking tabs and integrated O-rings. Only the Revo intake kit features an inlet almost double the cross-sectional area. This means air can stabilise and distribute before a smooth tapered transition to the turbo.   FILTER AND HEATSHIELD Ensuring the engine has access to cold air is vital for performance. The Revo heat shield channels cold air from the front intake duct while partitioning the filter from the heat of the engine bay. The Revo Heatshield uses the stock mounting points and rubber mounting bushings to provide an easy and secure installation.   RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT All Revo products are designed in-house and are rigorously tested utilising an in-house 3D printer, latest CAD and CFD programs, hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo intake allows the turbo to run more efficiently, intake a larger volume of air and minimise turbulence to increase both power and torque, as highlighted during controlled Dyno testing. AIRFLOW  An overall air volume increase of 50% over the OE part allows for faster and increased airflow. The carefully designed silicone hose has its own support bracket mated to a machined hose fitting, maintaining the correct position during engine movement. A constant taper in the hose ensures a smooth transition of airflow from the air filter to turbo and results in an increase in air volume over the stock part. Further helped by the machined inlet that matches the turbo inlet for the ultimate in airflow characteristics.   DYNO GRAPH Testing was carried out on an Audi S1 2.0 TFSI (6 Speed manual) with Revo Stage 1 Software fitted with the OEM system and then the Revo Air Intake System. With a consistent gain throughout the rev range, the Revo intake offered a peak gain of 12HP at the hubs over the stock part. This kit comes complete with a custom Revo foam filter, supported by galvanised epoxy-coated mesh for strength under load. Revo three-stage foam filters work very differently to conventional paper or cotton-gauze alternatives designed to trap particles on the outer layer. Revo filters trap debris and particles within the foam layers, allowing air to still navigate through. The filter is also reusable.   RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT All Revo products are designed in-house and are rigorously tested utilising an in-house 3D printer, latest CAD and CFD programs, hub dyno and Revo data acquisition software. The Revo intake allows the turbo to run more efficiently, intake a larger volume of air and minimise turbulence to increase both power and torque, as highlighted during controlled Dyno testing.   PERFORMANCE DATA Back to back testing of the stock air intake system and the Revo kit were carried out. Fitted to an Audi S5 3.0 TFSI B8.5 with Revo ECU Software, Revo Charge Cooler and Pulley upgrade. The results were a power gain from 3900 to 6800rpm, the Revo intake offering a peak gain of 20HP at the hubs, and 9NM torque over the stock part. A maximum increase in airflow of up to +16 kg/hr gives impressive gains of 27HP @6100rpm and 30NM @4600RPM over using the stock intake system. LOWERING TEMPERATURES To show the efficiency of the ceramic coating as a thermal barrier, extra temperature sensors were placed at the filter and throttle body. After 5 dyno runs the maximum IAT (Intake Air Temperature) were 25% lower at the throttle body over the stock intake system. CARBON INTAKE PIPE The newly designed carbon fibre pipe smoothly tapers from the airbox to the turbo, removing the corrugated plastic section of stock pipe and provides the smoothest possible airflow. The 20% size increase and thermal properties of the carbon keep intake temperatures lower, allowing the 2.5 TFSI engine with Revo ECU performance software to produce more power. PRO PANEL FILTER Revo Panel Filters use multi-layered foam technology to trap dust and dirt while maintaining flow efficiency over time. Using foam increases the filter's surface area and is washable, compared to standard paper and cotton filters which trap dust on the surface and become less efficient the more they are used, choking the engine and reducing performance. AIRBOX SILICONE HOSE No detail has been overlooked when reducing restrictions within the stock airflow system. The stock corrugated plastic hose is replaced with a smooth silicone one, reducing air turbulence. A three-ply construction with the addition of fluorine for added protection increases strength to prevent collapsing under pressure. Internal steps flush fit against the stock airbox and the turbo inlet, creating a smooth transition between components ensuring the smoothest airflow. SILICONE REDUCER To ensure smooth airflow from the carbon intake to the turbo inlet, a tapered 4 ply silicone hose has been designed with includes a full fluoro lined inner to protect against oil vapour. The silicone has perfectly matched internal steps to reduce any unwanted turbulence through the transition of parts, the steps are matched to the outer diameter of the carbon pipe, and the internal diameter of the turbo inlet.   PERFORMANCE Testing was carried out with consistent conditions on both the OEM intake and the Revo Carbon Series Air Intake System on a 2018 Audi TTRS running Revo Performance ECU Software. While dyno testing for performance gains, VCDS software was used to log airflow with a full AEM logging suit used to monitor temperatures. The Revo Carbon Series Intake increased vehicle performance, especially over 3600rpm with 16whp and 31NM gains, highlighting the performance benefits over the stock components.   AIRFLOW The only way to fully test the maximum airflow and restriction was to test both the stock and Revo intake on a controlled Flow testbed. The testing was carried out using a 76mm orifice plate to simulate the size of the stock turbo inlet. The Carbon Series Revo system had far less restriction than the OE unit, at 480CFM the stock unit was seeing 452mmwg restriction while the Revo unit only saw 371mmwg some 21% less restrictive, even at 540CFM the Revo intake only saw 467mmwg restriction and still had more headroom.     Overview The Revo Carbon Air Scoop is designed to work in harmony with Revo software to unleash the maximum potential from your engine. Flow testing of the OEM intake emphasised the restrictions in the system, giving the Revo engineers a clear indication of what needed improving. The stock front panel used to direct air to the airbox, the standard air filter and convolutions in the rear pipe from the airbox to turbo were found to be the main ‘choking points’ in the system. The Revo system is a direct replacement kit and includes a beautiful carbon front panel, designed to direct cold air directly to the OEM airbox utilising an internal fin, along with the second feed of cold air into the engine bay to help keep ambient temperatures lower. A coolant relocation hose is also included. The graphs below were produced with products fitted to a vehicle and also in a standalone test off the car. The Revo system was tested on a flow bench to highlight the efficiency of the kit in allowing more air to reach the turbo, quickly and with less restriction. The OEM system reached its maximum potential of 440 cubic feet per minute, compared to the Revo system which was able to flow 480 CFM with a restriction of around 600 mmWg. This difference allows the engine to still make power at the top of the rev installing with the Revo kit.   INCREASED POWER AND TORQUE The Carbon Air Scoop (with silicone back hose and ProPanel) was installed on a variety of stage 2 & 3 vehicles, all tested on a 4-wheel hub dyno. Three consecutive runs were carried out on each vehicle comparing the stock system to the Revo MQB Carbon Air Scoop. A consistent gain of +10WHP was found on the 300ps 2.0TSI and +17WHP on the 220ps 2.0TSI, with both giving an average gain throughout the rev range of +16NM torque.
